18 May Exploring 10 million years through the Granada Geopark

The University of Granada is organising the free guided visit “Exploring 10 million years through the Granada Geopark”, an outreach activity that invites participants to discover one of the most unique geological territories in Andalusia. This initiative will allow visitors to learn about the evolution of the landscape and the natural richness of the Granada Geopark, recognised by UNESCO for its extraordinary scientific and heritage value.

This Geopark stands out for preserving one of the best continental geological records from the last millions of years, featuring badlands landscapes, fossils and natural formations that help explain how this environment has evolved over time.

During the visit, which will take place on 27 May, participants will have the opportunity to explore the geological history of the area from an educational and sustainable perspective.

In addition to its scientific importance, the Geopark has become a key destination for responsible tourism and environmental outreach, combining nature, cultural heritage and educational activities.
