GREEN RING – GRANADA

The Green Ring of Granada is a project aimed at creating a network of connected peri-urban forests and parks, promoting sustainable mobility through bike lanes and pedestrian paths. The initiative seeks to restore degraded ecosystems, improving their biodiversity and functionality, and generating green infrastructures that enhance the urban environment.

Using the principles of ecological restoration, we can recover degraded ecosystems, thus restoring their functions and environmental conditions. Citizen participation is essential, with planting and environmental education activities organized in collaboration with local businesses. Since 2019, the Plant-for-the-Planet Foundation and the City of Granada have started the first phase.
In September, the PREU (Urban Restoration Program) was signed, an agreement to continue advancing alongside the University of Granada and La Huella Verde de Granada.

The main goal is to reduce climate change, improve air quality, and promote healthy habits, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly with SDG 3 on health and well-being.

The dates for the next PREU activities are:

  • Saturday, November 23 at the Mirador del Barranco del Abogado
  • Saturday, November 30 at the El Fargue Park
  • Saturday, December 14 at PTS (near the Shell gas station)
