13 Jun The Chapel Hall of the Royal Hospital displays “CLAY: Ceramics in the Heritage of the University of Granada”

From April 22 to September 13, the Chapel Hall in the Royal Hospital hosts the exhibition ‘CLAY: Ceramics in the Heritage of the University of Granada’.

Ceramics have been present in Granada and its university areas for centuries and demonstrating a constant interest in promoting this rich tradition and pottery production. This ceramic heritage continues to grow, thanks mainly to various donations.

The exhibition is organized into four sections that display the process of ceramics production and design:

• ‘Modes of Production. From Quarry to Ceramics’ illustrates the production processes and the tasks of distribution and sales.
• ‘The Craft of Techniques. From Shape to Colour’ has an educational focus, introducing visitors to the various techniques used in creating ceramic piece.
• ‘Types and Uses. From Domestic to Science’ provides a broad overview of the historical uses of ceramics in different fields.
• ‘Contemporary Ceramics. Creation and Innovation’ features a significant collection of pieces from the UGR Contemporary Art Collection, reflecting the plastic and technical renewal that ceramics have experienced in recent years.
