25 May THE UNIVERSITY OF GRANADA CELEBRATES ITS V CENTENARY WITH A CONCERT AT THE PALACE OF CARLOS V

On the 9th of June at 10.00 pm, the University of Granada Orchestra and the Manuel de Falla Choir will present a programme dedicated to the legacy of Emperor Carlos V. Tickets are available free of charge from 20 May, with only a distribution fee payable, on the Festival’s website or at the Festival box office at the Corral del Carbón.

This concert forms part of the University of Granada’s 5th Centenary programme and is organised in collaboration with the Granada International Music and Dance Festival, as part of its FEX programme, which explores the contemporary legacies of Charles V and his cultural heritage. It will also serve as the musical closing event for the 2025–2026 academic year, commemorating a pivotal moment in the history of Granada’s university.

The programme will open with a symphonic suite by the Argentine-Spanish composer Federico Jusid based on the series Isabel and Carlos, Rey Emperador. This will be followed by Alhambra, a symphonic poem by Antón García Abril. The concert will conclude with the world premiere of Icnofonía, variations on Delphin de Narvaez and on the iconography of the Palace of Carlos V, a work by José López-Montes commissioned by the UGR.
