02 Mar The UGR promotes inclusive leadership with people with Down syndrome
The University of Granada has organised an activity focused on inclusive leadership, aimed at promoting a more inclusive and respectful coexistence about functional diversity. The event brought together individuals with Down syndrome, who shared their life experiences with university students in the Realejo neighbourhood.
The initiative forms part of the UGR’s commitment to raising awareness within the university community about the importance of fostering spaces of equality and respect, where different abilities are valued as a fundamental part of human diversity. During the meeting, participants addressed topics related to leadership, personal autonomy, the right to social participation and the barriers that still exist to achieving full inclusion in various areas of life.
Activities such as this reflect the university’s dedication to encouraging dialogue across generations and abilities, creating opportunities for students and members of the community with intellectual disabilities to share experiences, broaden perspectives and learn from one another. The session took place in the historic Realejo district, an emblematic area of Granada that provided a meaningful setting for this enriching exchange.
